Neurofeedback Program at SKALA Clinic in Novi Sad, Serbia

This program was developed in partnership between SKALA Clinic (http://www. http://psiholog.co.rs/), the Foundation for Neurofeedback and Applied Neuroscience  (http://www.neurofeedbackfoundation.org/Objectives_and_Purposes.html)  and STARTTS Neurofeedback Clinic.

To support the development of the neurofeedback program in Serbia, the Foundation for Neurofeedback and Applied Neuroscience has donated an EEGer neurofeedback system to the SKALA Clinic. ANFI has offered time to train and mentor SKALA clinicians to use neurofeedback in working with children with severe and complex developmental disabilities.

About SKALA Clinic

​The SKALA Clinic was opened in 1990 in Novi Sad, Serbia by Ms Gizela Zalisevskij to provide mental health services to infants, children, adolescents and their families. Over the years, the founder of the clinic, Ms Gizela Zalisevskij has developed a highly specialised and unique SKALA method in working with complex developmental issues. This method uses the principles of visual-motor and cognitive development in children to improve their attention and psychomotor development. The training always begins from the point where the deficit occurred and throughout the work, the aim is to encourage the child to reach their next level of development. Every small step towards regular development is a huge success for both the client and therapist. At SKALA, a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists is working towards helping their clients reach their full potential.

The SKALA Clinic introduced neurofeedback into their practice in 2014. The Foundation for Neurofeedback and Applied Neuroscience has donated an EEGer neurofeedback system to the SKALA Clinic while STARTTS Neurofeedback Clinic has provided training and mentoring to SKALA clinicians. Since that time, 66 children, ranging in ages from 3 to 14, have completed neurofeedback training. Each neurofeedback session was followed by the “SKALA” treatment for 30 minutes. The integration of the two treatment modalities showed promising results, suggesting that adding neurofeedback to their regular practice has helped to improve clinical outcomes.

  • academic motivation
  • adaptation to change
  • faster development of speech comprehension
  • expressive language
  • impulse control

The SKALA Clinic is highly motivated to continue the use neurofeedback therapy and invest into further integration of neurofeedback with other treatment modalities.
